Season 3, Episode 4: The Loss of Faith and a Marriage, the Gaining of an Identity
This is the last episode in our four-part mini-series about going off the grid in search of solitude. We finish our group of explorers, people who broke away to take a moment–or a week, or a month, or even a couple years–with James. (We have agreed to keep his last name confidential.)
Having grown up in a born-again Christian community with strict rules governing how best to live, James finally woke up to the fact that he didn’t know himself—and that his marriage was crumbling. He turned inward, retreating to a cabin in the Catskills, to figure it all out.
